Estevan Oriol is the latest in a series of creatives against copyright issues involving fast fashion retailers. The iconic "LA Hands" photo is the piece in question and was taken in 1995. The premise of Oriol's lawsuit outlines that both H&M and Brandy Melville utilized his protected work to create a "derivative and substantially similar image that is used on one or more of H&M and Brandy Melville's T-shirts – items that have been sold and continue to be sold in their respective retail stores worldwide,” according to a press release.
