The Higgs boson is a pretty big deal. But just before any scientist discovered it, Homer Simpson was on the verge of it already. In a new book titled 'The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets', this was almost done nearly 14 years ago.
In the episode of "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace" in September 1988, Homer writes down an equation which turns out to be an equation that nearly predicts the God Particle.
According to author Simon Singh, "that equationa predicts the mass of the Higgs boson." "If you work it out, you get the mass of a Higgs boson that's only a bit larger than the nano-mass of a Higgs boson actually is. It's kind of amazing as Homer makes this prediction 14 years before it was discovered."
