Lionsgate bought the rights to Terrestrial, a spec script about a massive spaceship in the middle of the Mojave Desert, for a reported six figures.
The Wrap reported that Tripp Vinson, producer of The Exorcism of Emily Rose, brought writer Peter Gaffney's original script to Lionsgate, and it seems like we'll be seeing this sci-fi movie sooner than expected.
The official synopsis from the website reads:
Over the Mojave Desert, an alien ship the size of the Chrysler building falls from the sky. Exhibiting no signs of life or communication, a team of brave, possibly insane, individuals must venture inside on a mission that could be mankind's greatest discovery - or gruesome death. What they will find is a power beyond their understanding, wonderous and extremely dangerous, one that will change them forever.
