We often see people moving to their new houses. They change their current address and shift to a new address. If you are also one of them or planning to move, then there are few things you must keep in mind. One of those things is informing the Postal Service about the move.

Yes, it’s important to inform your Postal Service about the move because they are responsible for the mail and packages you get. So, if you don't inform them about this change, then they will keep sending you the mail & packages at your old address from where you would have moved. So, for getting the mail at your new address, you have to inform it. The Postal Service or the post office will forward all your mail to your new address after knowing about this change.

The United States Postal Service is responsible for your mail delivery, and it gives you various methods or options to inform it about the change. What you have to do is fill the Change of Address form, and there are different options for that.

Like, you can fill this change of address form online at the official site of USPS. For this, visit the main USPS site, select the "Change of Address" option under Track & Manage category. After that, read the Privacy Act Statement carefully before clicking on Continue. You will be asked to select the type of the move, fill the date since when you want the Postal Service to forward your mail, and select whether the move is temporary or permanent. Your old address, new address, personal details, etc. will also be asked to you. So, fill the details and confirm the order at last.

In between the process, you will also be asked for your debit or credit card details for the identity check. It will cost you $1. If you don't want to pay this, then visit your nearest post office where you can ask for the PS Form 3575 (change of address form). Fill this form and hand over to the clerk and it's done. You can also request the Postal Service to deliver this form to you. Call 1-800-275-8777 and the mail carrier will bring it to you.

Once the order is confirmed, all your mail will be forwarded to your new address. You will get a welcome kit at your new address as the confirmation of the order. If the order was submitted online, then you will receive a confirmation email. A Move Validation Letter will also be sent to you at the old address once the Postal Service receives your order.

These are the most used methods to inform USPS about the move. Pick any of the above methods and inform the postal service. If you receive packages from UPS or FedEx, then you should inform them too. If you are confused about the delivery and want to know that does FedEx deliver on Sunday or does UPS deliver on Sunday, then you should find out about the delivery schedule.

So, don't forget to inform USPS if you are going to change your address soon, and don't get worried if you make any mistake while filling the form because you can also view, update, or cancel this order in the future.
