When you think of a fun family vacation, camping might not be the first thing that springs to mind. However, camping can be great entertainment, you can make some special memories, and it’s good for you. Being out in nature, breathing in the fresh air, and working out solutions for challenges will all have a positive effect. So if you like the way that camping will make you feel, but you don’t like the idea of camping itself, here are some great ways to make the experience much more comfortable.

The Cozy Kitchen
Food is obviously an important part of camping; you want to be energized enough to be able to enjoy your days, and you want to be full enough to sleep well during the night. What you don’t necessarily want to do is to have to forage or hunt for your food when you’re out in the wild. Pack a cooler of things you would eat if you were at home (plus some snacks for eating around the campfire) and you’ll have a much better time. A camping stove and propane tank is a must-have and knowing how to hook it up correctly is important.

Relax
You can’t be on the go all the time, so you’ll need to schedule in some quiet time when you’re back at camp. Make sure you have some calming activities for the kids to do such as coloring books or puzzles, or you can create a scavenger hunt for around the camp so that you can sit for a while and still keep an eye on them. Bringing along a reasonably comfortable chair is a good idea so that you can rest your weary body. You might even consider a camping hammock if you’re in an area with enough trees to support it.

The Right Tent
Camping in the right tent is a lot more comfortable than sleeping in the wrong tent. When you’re choosing your tent, make sure that you’re buying or renting one that is suitable for the area you’re going to be camping in, and for the season too – you’ll need a lighter tent in summer, for example. It needs to be the right size as well; you really don’t want to be too cramped up together if you’re planning to be comfortable.

Sleep Well
Of course, getting a good night’s sleep is crucial if you want to have as much fun as possible on your camping adventure. Sleeping bags are good; they will keep you warm. However, what they won’t necessarily do is keep you protected from the sticks and stones on the ground beneath you. Having a mattress like the Adventure Kings Self Inflating Foam Mattress will keep you a lot more comfortable and you’ll feel more wide awake and ready to make the most of the next day. Don’t forget to pack a pump too, otherwise you’re going to be spending a lot of time inflating the mattress. You should also bring a pillow from home, and if it’s going to be really very cold indeed, a hat to sleep in. Sleeping hats are available from camping stores, and will protect you from the elements.
