A rare Ferrari built for legendary Formula One racer Juan Manuel Fangio is expected to fetch over $28 million at a New York City auction in December.

It is only one of four to be built and raced without a single crash up until 1964.

The 1956 Ferrari 290 MM is powered by a 3.5 liter, V12 engine and was raced by Fangino, a 4-time Formula One world champion.

sotheby's says that the 290 MM retains its original chassis, matching number engine, body, and gear box.

Could this Ferrari break record sales? The 250 GTO Berlinetta was sold for $38.1 million in 2014. A Mercedes-Benz W196 was sold for $29.6 million in 2013. What will the 290 MM fetch?
