VETPAW is an organization that employs ex US veterans to train and support Africa's rangers in the fight against illegal poaching. The poster child for the team is this woman: Kinessa Johnson.
She was a weapons instructor and diesel mechanic in the army for 4 years.
She also served a tour in Afghanistan.
This is her fully armed.
She's now in Tanzania where she's protecting those who can't protect themselves, stopping illegal ivory trade and poaching. She points out that she's not a poacher hunter though.
She says, "I'm a technical adviser to anti-poaching rangers so I patrol routinely with them and assist in intelligence operations."
"Our intention is not to harm anyone, we're here to train park rangers so they can track and detain poachers and prevent it."
There's been a downturn in poachin activity whenver the presence of VETPAW in an area is known.
