According to a Shanghai-based research firm, wealthy, young Chinese travelers prefered 'adventure travel' destinations over typical tourist vacation spots. The research revealed travelers aged between 18 and 36 chose to visit places like the polar regions, Africa and Middle East rather than Southeast Asian hotspots like Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
The travelers spend an annual average of 420,000 yuan on travel expenses and 220,000 yuan on travel shopping per household.
Respondents of the survey expressed interest in visitng Africa, while some choose to go to the Middle East and a smaller percentage of them said they would like to visit the Arctic.
