What if the next and future First Lady of the U.S. happens to be an ex Sports Illustrated model? This is Melania Klauss, 45, and she's the third wife of Donald Trump. She might also be the hottest First Lady too. Is she Donald's secret weapon?
Melania is a Slovenian immigrant who grew up in an unnamed concrete apartment building in an industrial town called Sevnica in what was formerly a part of the communist country of Yugoslavia.
Her father, Viktor Knavs, was a car dealer, and her mother Amalijia, was a textile factory worker.
Photographer Stane Jerko discovered her and invited her to his studio. Jerko said:
“I still remember how tall she was and how beautiful her figure and hair were. There was no smile on her face because she was shy and scared, but I encouraged her to come to the studio.”
She's also more than just looks.
Melania kick-started her modelling career from there and took jobs all over Europe including fashion hubs like Milan and Paris. She is multilingual and proficient in English, German, Italian and French in addition to speaking Slovenian and Serbo-Croatian.
She immigrated to New York in 1996, became a permanent resident in 2001 and gained American citizenship in 2006.
She met Donald Trump in 1998 during New York Fashion Week at the Kit Kat Klub in Manhattan.
She soon shot to super fame when she posed nude for British GQ magazine lying on a fur blanket and handcuffed to a leather briefcase aboard her future husband’s jet. The title of the cover was:
“Sex at 30,000 feet. Melania Knauss earns her air miles.”
They have a son together, Barron Trump, now nine, is Donald Trump’s fifth child.
The Republican nominee’s wife has kept a low-key profile during her husband’s campaign trail and stayed out of the political spotlight up until recently.
