You would think paying a huge amount of money would help you bag your dream wife. A Chinese businessman in his 40s found out that doing that doesn't quite work. In fact, he paid $1.1 million to an agency to help him fail miserably.
"Mr. Zhang" hired a Shanghai-based company to help him find a wife. He was looking for a "pure and sweet" woman between the ages of 20 and 28 and between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 8 inches tall.
The agency did their best, and ran national auditions and conducted interviews with women all over China.
But for the next five years, the search was unfruitful. Unsatisfied, he demanded a full refund. The agency refused, and he sued them in court and won some money back.
Guess you can't pay to find love, huh.
