Women shaving their armpit hair wasn't really a thing back then. In fact, this whole thing is only about a century old. Before that, no one gave a toss. In China, shaving armpit hair wasn't a thing for women until the 1990s. Now, Chinese women are taking to the Internet to show off their natural look for the 2015 Armpit Hair Competition.
Feminist activist Xaio Yue, 26, is the founder of the contest.
She says that she hopes to send the message that women need not be hairless to be beautiful.
She blames Western influence, advertisers and grooming products manufacturers for the trend.
Lots of entries have been pouring in.
Loud, proud, and hairy.
What do you think? Should women shave their armpit hair? Or not?
