Posture is really important. It's not only good to minimize physical ailments, it also improves your confidence, mood and energy. Too bad this generation seems to be slouching more than the last.

According to a study from San Francisco State University, posture can influence and create a mood. Walking with a 'slouched a despondent posture can lead to feelings of depression' and even a decrease in energy.

Walking up right on the other hand was shown to "improve mood and energy levels."

"We tend to think the brain and body relationship goes one way," says Health Education Erik Peper, Ph.D., who headed the San Fran study. "In fact, the passages go both ways.”

He found a correlation with slouched walking versus elevated emotions and energy after an upright position in his study.

Peper found that posture improvements had significant non-physical influence on a person noting that by simply sitting or standing upright, you can modify your mood.

Peper's study is not the only one that says good posture is important and has many other benefits. In fact, there have been many other studies like this

But if the emotional factor is not a key driver to you standing or sitting upright, how about from a vanity point of view:

Don't slouch, folks. Don't slouch.
