It's hard to go anywhere let alone go on a real vacation. But as parents, our vacations are a tad different from what normal people usually know. Here are short trips you take all the time! Check it out:

1. When you wake up

Assuming you're not co-sleeping, and you wake up before the kids (fat chance though), then you're in for some good 5 to 10 minutes of time alone. It really feels great too. Plus you can bask in the sun:

Feeeeels great!

2. When you have your coffee

The moments you share with your first cup of coffee is so precious, it's almost like you'd be uninterrupted for the next 3 minutes.

3. When they nap

If you have anything to do, do it now. For example, this one hour window of "vacation" will let you do all kinds of things like: actually sit and relax on your couch. Remember how that felt like?

4. Going out to check your mail

It's a trip nonetheless, and assuming the kids aren't on your tail, you're going to take your GD time with it. Hopefully the trip back doesn't sadden you more because they could mostly be bills.

5. Bathroom time

Your precious alone time in the shower is the best kind of vacation that happens without fail every day! Sometimes even twice a day!

6. When you have diarrhea

Don't get me wrong but diarrhea is the perfect excuse to have some alone time, plus allow your bowels to reset itself through the rear exit of your body. It might be painful, but some vacations are painful.

7. When you go to work

If you're not a stay-at-home parent, or don't work from home either, then this could be the longest vacation you take from Monday to Friday. If 8 hours of "vacation" a day isn't enough, I don't know what is.

8. When you're driving home

You get to listen to your own tunes instead of "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands." Depending on the jam, sometimes it's a "vacation" not worth taking.

9. Guy's night out

So tonight is finally the night you're not on bottle duty and that means you can go crazy with your guys. Except, probably not because bottle duty might resume when you're home and you don't want to be drunk out of your face when duty calls. Still, quite a fun 3 hour or so "vacation."

10. When you take the trash out

Assuming you haven't taught your kids to take the trash out yet while you relax with the latest episode of The Voice, then the trip from home to trash bin can be quite fun. I usually take the slowest walk possible - ie. 3 minutes. Fun times.

11. When they finally sleep

This is heaven! It's like all of a sudden, you're at a beach resort with your partner, lounging, laughing and generally just doing nothing but relaxing. A good 6 hours of rest from this "vacation" we presume.
