Sometimes, it may seem that images of toned, slim and slender women may be sending us the wrong message. Can the perfect body only be described in one way? Victoria's Secret recently released a new collection and this is their ad:
Two women started a
petition to get VS to amend their marketing because the ad gives an unrealistic ideal of the perfect body.
A woman's lingerie line called Dear Kate decided to come back at the brand with their own ad, this time, to represent all women instead of the stereotype slim and slender.
"As if women need a reminder of our society’s homogenous definition of beauty, the ad features ten models with almost identical body shapes. The creators of the ad probably didn’t think twice about the message it is sending, and to us, it’s irresponsible marketing," Dear Kate wrote on their site's blog.
"As an all-girl company, we think we can do better."
