Slate recently wrote an article about not saying goodbye when you leave a party. They're suggestion: just ghost. They reason that saying goodbye can be long and painful, and sometimes, quite unnecessary. While that's true, there's more than one way to say goodbye without taking too much of anyone's time, yours included. Here are the ways:

1. Make eye contact, and then signal you're leaving.

It's common courtesy!

2. Say goodbye to everyone out loud. You'll be remembered for it.


3. Make sure everyone's watching, then tell them you're leaving.


4. Say it from across the room.


5. Give some weird-ass reason you're leaving.


6. Do the Pocahontas wave.


7. Or just say it early in the party.


8. Be witty. Or rude. Be wary of the lines you use.


9. Make eye contact, then walk away, slowly.


10. Or do this, though it would be more annoying looking in real-life.


11. Give one-liner goodbyes.


12. Or speak the truth BTTF style.


13. Or do this. Takes 1 second?
