Meet Harnaam Kaur, a 23-year-old teaching assistant from the U.K. who proudly sports a full-on beard. But it wasn't always that way.
When Harnaam was just 11, she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome which made her hair growth really dramatic. Her appearance made her an easy target in high school, where she was called names like "beardo" and "she-male." Harnaam says she tried everything to hide it including shaving, bleaching, and waxing twice a week, but nothing quite worked.
Harnaam says it got to the point where she was afraid to leave her room, self-harming and having suicidal thoughts. When she turned 16, she was baptized as a Sikh and stopped cutting her hair. And she's been rocking that beard ever since:
