There's a new weight loss procedure that's taking over Europe, and it basically involves swallowing a pill which later ends up as a balloon that gets stuck in your gut. Sounds... uncomfortable? Check out the demo below to see how this works:
Here's a further description of the procedure:
The Obalon balloon
includes a small capsule attached to a slender tube. You simply swallow
the capsule, and follow it with a glass of water. No sedation is
required. Gas is used to inflate the balloon, and the tube is removed.
Once in place, the balloon resides at the top of the stomach so you'll
feel full sooner. Up to 3 balloons can be placed to continue to
facilitate weight loss over the 12-week treatment. At the end of this
period, the balloons are removed in a short endoscopic procedure.
Clinical trials for Obalon have shown that patients lost an average of 17 pounds over the three month period. But not everyone is convinced just yet, which means the FDA hasn't approved the procedure for the states.
Plus, depending on how many balloons you are willing to get placed inside of you, the procedure could easily cost upwards of thousands of dollars.
