Dove is going to showcase its 2014 Sundance Film Festival entry. It is a short film that explores how social media is shaping the way we perceive beauty. Dubbed "Selfie", it follows a series of teenagers and their mothers who are asked to take self images that highlight their insecurities about the way they look.
The short is reminiscent of their previous "beauty sketches" ad campaign. But "Selfie" isn't only a short film. It is a research conducted by Dove revealing 63% of women believe social media is influencing today's definition of beauty more than print, film and music.
Directed by Cynthia Wade and produced by Sharon Liese, the short aims to empower women to redefine the traditional perception of beauty found in glossy magazines and movies.
