Supermodels are more than just women who were lucky enough to be born with a few genetic advantages and make money of it.
Take for instance like
Lyndsey Scott, a rising Victoria's Secret model who also happens to love building apps during her down time.
And Lyndsey's not the only one putting both her brains and beauty to good use. Here's a list of some other notable runway beauties who are also renowned for their intelligence:
Karlie Kloss
Expect this supermodel to disappear from the Victoria’s Secret runway soon as she's reportedly considering a degree at Harvard University.
Cameron Russell
This all American model and Victoria’s Secret Angel was introduced to Bill Clinton at the tender age of 10, who
told her to "stay in school, get to know as many different types of people as you can, and understand their dreams and aspirations." Russell took the advice to heart, studying Economics and Mathematics at Columbia University.
Lily Cole
This English supermodel managed gained a place in Social
and Political Sciences at Cambridge, but reportedly deferred twice
before switching to the History of Art, which she commenced in 2008.
Sasha Pivovarova
At 24, this veteran top model from Russian was
the face of Prada for six years, and has also walked for and starred in
luxury brand campaigns. Prior to becoming a model, Pivovarova studied
art at the St. Petersburg art institute and has also hosted her own
exhibit in New York City.
Carmen Kass
This Estonian beauty
defies the stereotype party model image by being a serious minded expert
chess player. In 2004, she was named president of the Estonian National
Chess League but has since resigned her post. She's also dabbled in
politics, and made an unsuccessful run in 2004 to be elected to the
European Parliament.
Cindy Crawford
Cindy had a perfect 4.0 in high school. After being
named valedictorian of her high school class, she went on to study
chemical engineering at Northwestern University before dropping out to
pursue modeling.
Christy Turlington
Discovered at the tender age of 14, Christy still managed to earn a B.A in Comparitive Religion and Eastern Philosophy from New York University. The mother of two is also currently studying for a masters degree in Public Health at Columbia University.
Brooke Shields
Shields has been in the
industry since she was just 11 months old, and was the youngest model to
grace the cover of Vogue. But her career didn't stop her from
graduating Princeton with honors at the tender age of 22.
Iman
Her hubby David Bowie certainly has good taste in women. Born in 1955, Iman helped open the door to black and minority women who wanted to enter the modeling industry. In addition to her experience in fashion, Iman studied political science at the University of Nairobi and speaks five languages.
