Some children feel scared to sleep in their own bedroom on their own. Thus, it is important to design and arrange your child’s bedroom the way they will feel safe, happy and excited to move and sleep in their own bed.

In this article, we will discuss some tips that you should consider when designing the kids room

Tip 1: Use a theme

Having a specific theme is very applicable for a kid’s room. It is fun, beautiful and it makes the entire process a lot easier since the theme serves as a guide and direction of how everything should be. Some of the common themes for girl’s bedroom include Barbie theme, all-pink room, Disney princesses, flowers and hearts theme among others. While for boys, they usually like to go for a Superhero, athletes, cartoons or anime, cars or sports theme. It is best to check with your little one what they want since it’s their room anyway.

Tip 2: Paint the walls with happy colours

Wall paint colour can easily dictate the mood in the room and of course, you want your kids to feel happy all the time. Thus, it is recommended to go for light and happy colours like pink, purple, light blue, or even white. You can also opt for wallpapers. Choose a design that will go well with the chosen theme. One advantage of using wallpaper is that it is easier to change it whenever you feel like it. For example, today your kid loves Superman, so the wallpaper is Superman but the following year, he likes Batman more, then you can easily change the wallpaper.

Tip 3: Customise the bed frame

Another way to make the kids go wow is by using a customised bed fame. They will probably agree to sleep on their own bed when they have such a pretty bed. You should customise it, again, according to the chosen theme. For example, you decided to go for cars theme then have the bed frame built in the shape of a car. This is indeed a winner idea for your kids.

Tip 4: Set up a play corner

It is also best to set up a play corner where all their toys are kept. This play corner is where they can play with their toys during the day or before bed time. Kids will feel more comfortable when they see their toys. Also, this is one way to practice them to stay in their room and eventually sleep on their own.

Tip 5: Make sure the room is safe for kids

You should not only make the room beautiful and fun but also safe for the children. It is important to keep all the electric plugs and sockets hidden or somewhere out of their reach. Also, remove any pointed objects like scissors, blade or knife especially that the kids are left there on their own.

It is advisable that you consult your kids in terms of their preference for their own room. Include them in the planning stage, asking them what colour they like to use and so on and so forth. That way, they will feel more excited about it and hopefully, they will feel more at ease in sleeping on their own.
