The Andrew Road House is an ultra modern home completed by A D Lab in the Caldecott region of central Singapore. The uneven terrain and proximity to a busy highway presented a challenge:
“The undulating terrain of the neighborhood is quite unusual in Singapore, and creates a street-scape whereby the plots of land are about a story below the street level. As such, each house along the street is entered from the second story. The architects took advantage of this unusual situation to lower most of the communal facilities down into a sunken court that shields them from the noise of the highway“.
This automatically increased the level of privacy for the inhabitants. The residence's undulating roofs create a view of shapes, each different angle revealing a new perspective. Indoors, inhabitants are surrounded by elegance in spaces defined by brightness and modern opulence.
Curtains are not just fabric for windows but essential elements to a living space's ambience. Apart from privacy, they control natural light, regulate temperature, and enhance interior aesthetics. Curtains frame views, offering a design focal point. They enable self-expression with diverse styles and colours, transforming a house into a home. In essence, curtains are crucial in shaping any living space's atmosphere, functionality, and visual appeal. Read more
