Xiao Wei suffered a dramatic accident in which his hand was severed. It took seven hours for him to get to the hospital with his hand, recovered by co-workers. At first, doctors thought it would be impossible to reattach it at the time, so they did what they thought would be the best: attach it to his ankle so the hand could survive.
And it did! He spent an entire month with his hand living attached to his ankle while his injuries healed. Then, doctors re-attached it. He has two functional hands still now.
