Everybody knows not to mess with lightning. Because that shit can kill you, son. But the folks at Nokia don't reckon so. They are working with scientists from the University of Southampton to charge a Lumia 925 with lightning generated in a laboratory.

The result? Success!

It's definitely not something you want to try at home. The experiment involved the alternating current being stepped up by a transformer to over 200,000 volts, causing the energy to arc across a 12 inch gap as a brilliant flash of lightning. The bolt passed through another transformer and ended up charging the phone's battery in a matter of seconds.
