Festo unveiled a new robotic creation today - a bionic kangaroo, just outside of Australian-themed amusement parks. The creation could result in robots with really endurance because they emulate how kangaroos hop around.
The marsupials are able to hop around for a very long time. Festo has managed to mimic that behavior in its Bionic Kangaroo.
The robot is powered by an internal air compressor that generates the pressure needed to launch it a foot and a half above the ground. When it lands, an actual spring, compresses to recapture some of the energy generated for the jump.
It is probably safe to say that the vast majority of us appreciate being able to safely go about our business. We are not looking to cause trouble or have it find us.
