Microsoft might be late to the digital assistant game, but the wait for it might be worth it. According to sources close to the project, some specifics about Microsoft's "Cortana" service have been revealed and it could be better than Siri and Google Now.

Unnamed sources say that Cortana will debut in the upcoming update to Windows Phone 8.1 as a total replacement for the existing Bing feature. Cortana will be launchable from a hardware button, and she will pull data from Bing. Foursquare and other services to pull off Siri and Google Now type of stuff.

And Cortana will have personality too. She'll have speaking animations and even emotional responses to some queries. No word on whether it will be anything like "Samantha" from "Her".

The Verge reports that Cortana will have a "Notebook" feature where users can toggle options like location data, personal information and contact information individually. She will also learn about you by watching how you use your phone and also pick up on your interests, where you live and work and pretty much cyber stalk you.

While Cortana is starting out as a Windows Phone feature, we might just be seeing her making her way into our computers and other devices. From Windows platforms to Xbox One devices.
