The connected home is about to become more mainstream. With technology like Nest, and a whole lot more which allows you to control appliances and gadgets from devices and the Internet making their way into your home, it's no surprise that the kitchen is a great place to start. GE has an app that lets you keep tabs on what's cooking - while you are out!
Four Wi-Fi-enabled GE wall ovens allow users to control the temperature and set the timer and monitor the cooking status via an app. But now, a new app update lets them control it even when they are outside of the house.
The first upgrade for the app lets you be outside of the Wi-Fi network in your home.
"Consumer convenience will always be a driving factor in GE’s new appliance designs," a GE spokesperson said. "Consumer's use smartphones to manage their lives, so it only makes sense that the technologies would converge."
The GE Brillion mobile app (for both
iOS and
Android) syncs with the oven models and pushes updates. It is similar to a remote control, and users can pre-heat the oven from afar and do more with the settings too.
GE’s remote-enabled wall ovens cost $2,299 - $3,799 and are available in black, white and stainless finishes.
