[Translation] f(x) interview for The Star's Behind The Scene 100527
Jun 01, 2010 13:05
Translator note: There were a lot of commas and run-on sentences (when translated to English) so I had to separate things, which was confusing because it was hard to tell if the sentence was referring to one person or the other in the next comma. Hopefully, I got all the subjects correct in each sentence and it wasn't too confusing. Enjoy~
Gloomy weather, in the early morning. Red eyelashes and blue eye shadow and light white lines on the face. f(x), with the perfect make-up appeared early on the broadcasting stage and looked a bit nervous. Originally, they shouldn't worry about school and society, staying in their dark rooms and sleeping the day away. Instead, they got up at dawn to prepare for this interview. Of course, being a little nervous in front of these beautiful girls isn't unusual.
I asked, "When did everyone go to sleep?" as a way to start off the morning greeting but the members answered "2:00!" and "3:00 for me!" and "around 4:00" quite casually. I guess I worried for them for nothing. Amber followed with a few giggles and gave the group's itinerary after this, which she explained that it includes practice, learning, and exercise. "It's not tiring at all. We're all used to it." The "10 Asia Interview" suddenly popped into my mind, and Luna came over and kindly asked, "Have you eaten yet?" She brought over snacks that were originally prepared for them and took care of others. With a cup of mocha coffee in hand, Amber studiously read and analyzed the instruction labels on the package and stood out from the others. Sulli, who already selected her flavor of coffee, asked, "Is it good?" With her curiousity, they naturally exchanged/shared their coffee.
Although she was sick and it was inconvient for her to speak, Victoria looked like she had a large piece of candy in her mouth before the interview started and spoke with half animated facial expressions and half smiles. But they became serious, Victoria included, when they started the interview with their stage performance aura. Sulli, with a nickname like "big walnut," expressed, "For me, I'm an emotional one." When she's met with a question she's confident in, the eyes on her snow-white face didn't blink and bursted out sounds of "hahahaha." Like her, Luna has a nickname "Lu-listener," which was derived from her facial expressions and reactions on shows. In the midst of being questioned and answering back, she can still correct Amber's Korean mistakes at the same time she distracts the interview from being too focused on individual member's stories.
"The unnie-fans make people feel assured and calm while the oppa-fans give people self-confidence." Sulli's comment piqued Amber interest and asked, "What is self-confidence?" Amber mentioned her difficult time with the Korean language on KBS's "Star Golden Bell" and would high-five Victoria as a joke when things got difficult. In actuality, their grasp of Korean has already reached the level where they can fully express all their thoughts and feelings. A few days ago, Amber's father visited Korea on a business trip and unexpectedly came with her on trip to the broadcasting room. Because of their schedule and activities, they were not able too talk for too long but Amber felt floatingly happy with her father by her side. Because she was not able to win and with her ability to spot round objects, she stared at a round prop as she entered the stage, jokingly using the balloon as a soccer ball and acting as if she's avoiding the ball and started laughing. (T/N: This was a complex sentence. I'm not too sure if I translated these last two sentence correctly.)
With an appearance of a proud teenage girl, Krystal, though she doesn't talk much, would give out surprising and intelligent answers, and would honestly divulge some things. In KBS2's "Let's Go! Dream Team, Season 2," her astonishing athleticism, she was known as "exercise girl" and during the shoot, the producer request "a little run" from her. Krystal ran around 1 meter and suddenly jumped up, and saw the producer's excited face and plopped down on the ground. Underneath her straightforward and icy cold exterior must contain a girl full of charm.
When their song was playing in the broadcasting hall, they wouldn't sit still and started moving their bodies and practicing. Singing as she danced, Sulli sang the height of the "NU ABO" song with "YeA~," with Luna using her odd, falsetto voice to sing along. When this main vocalist for the height of the song was confronted, she objected and complained, "Yah! When did I sing like that?" She was left helpless when the members around them answered, "It did sounded like that." After finishing her own coffee, Sulli said to Amber, who was still reading about the contents in the coffee, said, "Just forget about the contents and drink it." Luna revealed to us, "Between the two of us, Amber-unnie is heavier." Amber, who once again, held onto her coffee with both her hands like a precious piece of treasure, dealt with her situation in varied ways like everyone else.
f(x) is a group full of color. Grouping together five girls with different nationalities, appearances, personalities, and styles, they have created unique colors/qualities different from other girl groups. It can be girls, it can be boys, but there are no words suitable enough to describe this group. They don't emphasize feminine beauty and they don't give off a feeling of immaturity. On the stage, f(x) always sing a song full of attitude and dance with energy. Off the stage, they seem like high school girl athletes during lunch time, full of liveliness and fun. It's hard to use this sentence to summarize the energy f(x) radiates, but maybe the unnies and oppas understand it better. Maybe that's the charm of the new generation.
