Actor Jang Geun Suk donated a whooping 1.2 billion won to his alma mater, Hanyang University.

Although Jang made the donation quietly, the news has spread through the university development fund website which resulted in the school confirming the contribution.

A representative stated, "He did donate 1.2 billion won. He really wanted to donate because he wished to help his peers and juniors who were studying in difficult situations."

He added, "He wanted to make the donation quietly, but he’s quite surprised that it has become known. He made the donation out of good intentions, and any more attention will be burdensome."

The actor is well-known for his affection toward his school. Despite of his busy schedules, he finds time to appear in school events to hang out with fellow alumni and even buys pizza and soda for his juniors during exams.

In addition, Jang Geun Suk's donation turned out to be the highest ever amount donated by any Hanyang University student or alumni. Previously, the record was held by two members of the university alumni who each donated a billion won, but Jang set a new record with his recent donation.
