The well-known and first officially recognized music chart, Gaon Chart, will be hosting its first-ever awards ceremony next month!

On January 31st, Korea Music Content Industry Association (KMCIA) revealed that the "1st Gaon Chart KPOP Awards 2011" will be held at Blue Square, Samsung Card Hall in Seoul on February 22nd. The ceremony, which will recognize the best in Korean music, will be the first awards ceremony since its establishment in early 2010.

A statement from Gaon Chart revealed, "Our awards ceremony will be the most fair, both in name and reality, since we will select and award the most-loved songs, musicians and pop artists based on the objective data we've compiled over the past year."

KMCIA stated, "The nominees and nominations have yet to be announced but many top K-Pop artists will take part in the upcoming festivity."
