TREAT FOR FANS: Psy, NU'EST, Super Junior M, EXO-M and BtoB are some of the big names expected
KUALA LUMPUR: A SERIES of concerts and performances will take place from next week to early next year by K-pop's biggest stars.
Psy, known for his hit song Oppa! Gangnam Style, will be coming to Malaysia in March. Other artistes expected to entertain local fans over the next few months include NU'EST, Super Junior M, EXO-M and BtoB.
Psy is also among the big names who will be honoured at the annual Samsung Galaxy 27th Golden Disk Awards (GDA) on Jan 15 and 16.
To be held for the first time in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit, the event is dubbed as the South Korean version of the Grammy Awards. GDA is set to be the biggest K-Pop event ever held in the country, where many popular K-Pop artistes are expected to grace the event.
Nominees for the event include Psy, Super Junior, Big Bang, KARA, Girls' Generation, 4Minute and more. There will also be the audience choice award where fans can vote for their favourite artistes through MSN Popularity Vote, starting from Dec 17 to Jan 7.
This is the second time that the awards ceremony will be held outside of South Korea.
(It was held in Osaka, Japan, last year.)
Since its debut in 1986, GDA has been recognised as a platform in giving recognition to artistes in the South Korean music industry.

Psy will be in Malaysia to join other international artistes, including The Prodigy and Rita Ora at the annual Future Music Festival Asia (March 15 to 16). It will be held at Sepang International Circuit.
On Tuesday, fans of South Korean's boy groups, Super Junior M, EXO-M and BtoB, will get to see their artists in action at the 2012 Asia Super Showcase.

Another K-pop band NU'EST will also be making their way here for a special event with their fans on Saturday next week . The NU'EST: The Face to Face in Malaysia will be held at the Mines Exhibition Convention Centre at 6pm.
NU'EST, which stands for New Established Style and Tempo, recently debuted their music which was described as "urban electro". The group's members comprise JR, Aron, Minhyun, Baekho and Ren.
