Based on the first book in Veronica Roth's popular adult trilogy, Divergent takes place in a world where 16 year olds must decide in which of five factions they belong. In the film, Tris, the protagonist, takes the faction test revealing she is someone who can't be categorized. She is a divergent.

Played by Shailene Woodley, Divergent could very well be the next Hunger Games. Other familiar faces that pop up in the trailer include Ashley Judd as Tris' mother and Kate Winslet as government worker Jeanine Matthews.

Divergent is slated for release on March 21.
