Remember the time when you were young and didn't get many hangovers? Or you did but they were bearable because you weren't working yet? Well those times are long gone, and now the weekend is our salvation.
So when Australian scientists claimed they've come up with a "hydrating" beer, we couldn't help but get a tad excited. Because this would mean no hangovers, right?
ABC says that the new booze was brewed by nutrition researchers at Griffith University’s Health Institute, who manipulated the electrolyte levels of two commercial beers (one light and one regular strength) and fed them to people after a rigorous workout. They found that the adjusted light beer was up to three times more hydrating than regular beer.
“We know that beer is a very popular drink with people, particularly after … sport or exertion,” associate professor Ben Desbrow said. “From our perspective it’s about exploring harm minimization approaches that may still allow people to potentially drink beer as a beverage but lower the risks associated with the alcohol consumption — and hopefully improve rehydration potential.”
Okay, so it's not exactly a no-hangover beer? Just a milder one due to its re-hydration potentials. Still, it's better than regular beer. But whether it will catch on remains to be seen.
