With Pride month on the horizon, it’s time to start planning out what you’re going to wear. Of course, you don’t have to show off your pride if you aren’t comfortable (or if you aren’t out of the closet)—that doesn’t make you any less Queer.
However, if you’re looking to show off your Queer-ness this season, we’ve got the brands for you. Sure, you could always pick up Pride items at stores like Walmart and Target, but they tend to sell Pride gear solely for marketing purposes, and not because they actually care about the community.
You’re much better off supporting small, Queer-owned businesses. That way, you know that the money you spend will end up in the pockets of someone who’s a part of the same community you are.
1. Heckin’ Unicorn
Heckin’ Unicorn is a Singapore-based brand that’s made for and by Queer people. They provide the community with many different ways to express their pride, beyond flags and rainbow printed items. They believe in more than just flashy rainbows and boring slogans.
Some of our favorite pins include their scissor pins, unicorn pins, love pins, flannel pins, and bi-cycle pins. They even sell a pan pin to represent pansexual people, and yes, it’s an actual pan!
They also offer pins with pronouns, and so much more! You’re bound to find something you love within their shop.
2. Gay Pride Apparel
Gay Pride Apparel is a great option for all your Pride needs. They too strive to sell items that are outside of the normal, boring rainbow-only designs. They have mugs, posters, shirts, and more available for purchase. Some of our favorite designs include:
● The “Sounds Gay, I’m In” line
● The “Gay and Tired” line
● The “Love is Love” line
They also separate out all of their sections by sexuality and identity, so you can easily find exactly what you’re looking for. They even have LGBTQ+-themed zodiac sign merchandise! Gay Pride Apparel also offers discrete packaging for those who aren’t yet out of the closet.
3. Rainbow Depot
Rainbow Depot is a huge warehouse of different Pride items. They sell everything from clothing and apparel to buttons, magnets, flags, jewelry, stickers, and even adult toys. If you take a peek into the apparel section, you’ll find that they sell pretty much everything under the sun, including:
● Belts
● Ties
● Suspenders
● Hats
● Masks
● Shirts
● Shoelaces
● Socks
● Underwear
● Hoodies
● And more!
If you’re looking for something that screams Pride, you’ll probably be able to find it at Rainbow Depot.
4. Pride Palace
Pride Palace is the ultimate destination for Pride flags. They sell flags for all different types of sexualities and gender identities, so you won’t feel left out when shopping on their website. Their flags include:
● LGBTQ+ Flag
● Bisexual Pride Flag
● Progress Pride Flag
● Pansexual Pride Flag
● Transgender Flag
● Intersectional Pride Flag
● Lesbian Pride Flag
● Non-Binary Pride Flag
● Asexual Pride Flag
● Rainbow Peace Flag
● Ally Flag
● Genderfluid Flag
● LGBTQ+ Canadian Flag
● Pride Flag
● Demisexual Pride Flag
● American Pride Flag
● Lesbian Pride Flag
● Polyamorous Flag
● Aromantic Flag
● Agender Flag
● And so many more
As you can see, they strive to stock all the flags possible on their website, aiming to leave out no gender or sexual identities.
However, they don’t only sell flags at Pride Palace, they also sell rings, hoodies, and pins! Not to mention that all of their sales benefit LGBTQ+ charities, so you’ll feel good giving back when you make a purchase from Pride Palace.
No matter where you get your Pride apparel, we wish you a happy Pride month no matter what your sexuality or gender identity is!
