I don’t want to judge, but those people that dedicate their entire lives to building a perfect property are absolutely mad. I can’t be the only one that sees the prospect of cleaning the drains as an absolute pain in the backside, especially in the summer months. For me, necking into a cold drink in the nearest beer garden is a far better proposition.

That doesn’t mean that we don’t all love a great home. Most of us just cannot be bothered to spend the bulk of our free time making it happen. Therefore, finding a few shortcuts along the way is a necessity.

Well, you’re in luck. Follow these tips, and your home will soon feel brand new. More importantly, you’ll still have time to go out and enjoy the sun with a smile.

Start With The Garden

The thought of fixing your home from top to bottom can fizzle your brain quicker than looking at an A level Maths exam paper. There are so many different considerations to make. As such, trying to calculate the right solution is intensely difficult. The far easier option is to simply sort out the garden.

You’re gonna be spending loads of time outdoors over the summer anyway. With this simple guide, you can have it looking fantastic on a small budget with minimal effort. Add a BBQ and you’re set to go for the summer. Let’s face it; you’re not going to worry too much about the living room while sunbathing with a burger.

Better still, a great garden means you can invite people to visit you rather than having to leave the home for those enjoyable afternoons in the sun. What more could you ever ask for?

Paint Some Walls

Every room needs a new lease of life from time to time. But there’s no point in spending thousands to achieve it. Likewise, the thought of having the home in a state of transition for months is less appealing than a weekend away with Katie Hopkins. Thankfully, a few coats of paint will provide the perfect solution.

If you are going to complete this task, you must do it in a productive manner. As long as the walls are prepped, you could probably finish the entire home in a weekend or two. Better still, a lot of that time will be spent waiting for coats to dry. In my books, that’s a great excuse to sit down in the newly designed garden with a pint.

Go for a contemporary look. Paint three walls in a base colour and dedicate one feature wall; you’ll be able to complete future painting jobs in even quicker time. Brilliant.

Get Expert Help

Sometimes, you just have to value your time more than money. This is especially true when it comes to home improvements. Besides, many home tasks need to be completed in a professional manner if you want to see the best results.

Unleashing your inner Frank Spencer could ruin your property.  This is particularly likely when dealing with structural issues. Damp treatment and other key issues need to be handled in the best manner. I know we all like to imagine a world we are capable of doing anything. But being honest with yourself is vital. If you need expert help, get it.

If yours is anything like my household, then avoiding flat plan furniture is also highly advised. Or if you do insist on completing those tasks yourself, make sure you’ve got a spare duvet. There’s a good chance one of you will be sleeping on the sofa.

Bring Work Home

Summer is brilliant, but sitting in traffic on the motorway en route is a nightmare. I’d probably rather be stuck in a lift with the cast of Geordie Shore than sit roasting in the car. Actually, I take that back, but it’s still a pretty annoying situation. But in today’s world, many of us can overcome those battles (at least on some days) by working from home. On the other hand, this is only possible when the facilities are at home.

In my home, the guest room became little more than a storage space. Since turning it into an office space, it’s become a far more useful environment. Moreover, it’s freed up space in other parts of the home. You could also benefit from a home office conversion, and it doesn’t have to cost much money either.

Most families now require a home office space, making this a great way to add value to the property too.
