On Thursday, David Letterman
announced that he would retire from the Late Show in 2015. This sparked plenty of nostalgia over his career with NBC, which began with Late Nite in 1982, making him the longest-running late night talk show host.
The 66-year old has entertained viewers for more than 30 years with segments such as his "Top 10" countdown. So technically, this guy's been making listicles way before you knew what GIFs were.
