James Franco's Child of God garnered favorable reviews on the festival circuit when it debuted at the Venice Film Festival in August 2013, which might soon see a wider release in theaters. The film was adapted from the novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy, and the story explores society, cruelty and isolation through the eyes of Lester Ballard, an outcast from Tennessee who sinks deeper into crime and violence as he strives to exist outside the norm.
