When It Comes To Liquor, You Don't Always Get What You Pay For

Whether your poison of choice is vodka, tequila, gin, or rum, the main thing that these products have in common is that the price really has very little correlation with the quality of the booze. But why is it that most people still tend to assume the priciest liquor is the best?
To find out, the guys from FindTheBest.com decided to compile ratings and awards from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and the Beverage Testing Institute.
Each bottle was rated by experts who had no idea what the price of the liquor is, enabling them to provide a more unbiased rating.
The biggest scam was found to be drinks like vodka. Premium vodkas like Zyr ($32) scored a higher quality (98 rating), similar options with high price tags only scored so-so (Belvedere: 80 rating, $34). Surprisingly, dirt-cheap Plantation Vodka ($13) was given a 98 rating. And the ever-popular Grey Goose vodka didn't even score a San Francisco World Spirits Competition medal.
So the next time you shop at your local liquor store, save yourself some cash by sticking to actual taste instead of spending a quarter of your salary on something with a fancy label.
