Many vaping aficionados won’t hesitate to inform you that vaping isn’t the same thing as cigarette smoking. More often than not, this information will be presented in response to requests that they abstain from vaping in public. While it’s true that there are a number of differences between vaping and smoking, this doesn’t give you a free license to vape without any consideration for others. No matter how keen you are on vaping, you should still hold yourself to basic rules of decorum. As such, anyone looking to practice proper vaping etiquette should put the following pointers into practice.

  

Some people believe that if a business’s rules on vaping aren’t explicitly spelled out, they have the right to vape on the premises. However, more often than not, this is a mistaken assumption. Business owners that don’t see fit to make “no vaping” policies explicit generally assume that most patrons will exercise common sense and abstain from vaping while in public. Attempting to take advantage of technicalities like the rules not being prominently posted is unlikely to endear you to local business owners or your fellow patrons.

With this in mind, make a point of sticking to designated smoking and/or vaping areas when out in public. At the very least, you should do your vaping outside when not at home. Furthermore, abstaining from public vaping stands to make vaping at home all the more satisfying, particularly if you have access to the best vape mods.   

While it’s natural to think that friends and family members are okay with you vaping in their homes, you’d do well to avoid making such assumptions. Pulling out a vape pen in the home of a person who has not given you permission to do so is extremely rude, regardless of how well you happen to know this individual. This also places your friends and family members in an uncomfortable position. Even if they’d like to ask that you put your vape pen away, they’re liable to feel as if making this perfectly reasonable request will place their relationship with you in jeopardy. 

So, the next time you feel the urge to vape in the home of a friend or family member, the least you can do is ask for permission. Additionally, when asking, make it clear that there’s no pressure to say yes. Lastly, it’s recommended that you ask every time you visit this person. The fact that they gave you permission once doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re comfortable with you vaping in their home on a consistent basis.       

If you’re just meeting someone for the first time, pulling out your vape pen and puffing away isn’t the best way to make a first impression. While it’s possible that this person will be okay with you vaping in their immediate presence, you should once again avoid making assumptions. So, as is the case when visiting the homes of loved ones, take care to ask new people if they’re okay with you vaping in front of them. While this rule may not be written in stone, it’s basic common courtesy nonetheless.  

Some people simply don’t think that rules apply to them – and certain vaping enthusiasts are no exception. So, if you’ve ever been tempted to skirt “no vaping” rules at a store, restaurant or your place of business, you’d do well to avoid giving in to this urge. Not only will this make you appear rude and ill-mannered in the eyes of others, you also stand to lose your job, get hit with hefty fines or find yourself in legal trouble. Acting as if you – and you alone – are exempt from “no vaping” rules doesn’t make you a rebel; it makes you inconsiderate. 

 

Even if vaping is something you do for personal enjoyment, you’re still bound by certain rules of decorum. Vaping in certain settings and in the presence of certain people stands to land in hot water and make people think twice about associating with you. As such, anyone who has adopted vaping as part of their lifestyle would do well to familiarize themselves with proper vaping etiquette. So, if you’re eager to vape while showing due consideration for the people around you, heed the tips discussed above.
