Parkes Elvis Festival (New South Wales, Australia)

Parkes Elvis Festival is the biggest Elvis festival in Australia and includes everything from parades and film screenings busking contests, Elvis Trivia, and the crowning of Miss Priscilla. The list continues with Cars of the Era show and the legendary Elvis street parade. During the five days of the Festival around 120 individual events are organised. The first festival was held in 1993 and was sort of a one-night performance with about 300 attendees. The mid-summer was chosen for hosting the event as it’s a good time to be in the area and dates coincide with the birthday of The King of Rock’n’Roll on the 8th of January. Since then, it has grown into a five-day-long festival of Elvis-like madness. Every year in early January, the Festival attracts a large number of attendees and briefly doubles the population of Parkes. Well, you can also find incredibly dedicated Elvis fans residing in Parkes like a local couple who has been operating the ‘Gracelands Restaurant’. Up to 18,000 people head to Parkes for the Festival, so book your accommodation early.
