Spoilers ahead if you've not watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Thread with caution. But also, this is a pretty fun fact. So you might actually want to check it out too!

Remember Finn? He's one of the new heroes in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He first starts off as a Stormtrooper.

Finn was taken from his family at an early age as part of General Hux's new non-clone Stormtrooper regime and he's pretty low in ranks. He works in the sanitation department and only seen battle once. He's got an identification number: FN2187.

Later in the movie, he realizes the Dark Side is evil and defects. He gets a new name from Poe Dameron: Finn. Like FN. But easier to pronounce.

But as we all know, this must mean something. So FN2187 isn't just a random number.

What could it mean though?

It goes way back. All the way to Princess Leia, when she gets captured by the Galactic Empire.

When Han and Luke go to rescue her, Han asks which cell number she's being held in. And you guessed it: 2187.

Talk about throwback of sorts?

Nicely done, J.J.
