It almost feels as if there have been a lot of animal cruelty lately, but it's actually been around for a lot longer. Social media has just made us more aware of these things, and that there are a group of people who just feel it to be right in their hearts to kill beautiful animals all in the name of sport. Here's the 10 that went viral so far,
1. The World Cup Fan who won a modeling contract lost it almost immediately after posting a hunting picture. The Belgian teenager was about to become world famous after being spotted in a crowd in Brazil. She signed with L'Oreal, and then a few days later, posted this picture:
2 The TV presenter who hunted a lion and posted a photo on her Twitter. Melissa Bachman wrote, "An incredible day hunting in South Africa! Stalked inside 60-yards on this beautiful male lion. What a hunt!" Her social media page exploded with hate. The "Trophy Room" of her website showed pictures of her grinning with dead deer, antelope, alligators, turkeys, and hogs.
3. 19-year-old cheerleader, Kendall Jones, who sparked fury online with her posing next to dead animals she killed in Africa.
4. The American dentist who butchered Cecil the Lion in July 2015. Cecil was one of the most recognizable felines because of his rare black mane. He was the star attraction for thousands of tourists who travel to Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.
5. Three men were hunting near the village of Lysovice in the Czech Republic and posted this photo of them smiling for the camera, It showed the bodies of the mother fox and her seven cubs lie arranged in a line at their feet. They were branded as "evil" and "cruel" for it.
6. The New Zealand rugby players who were questioned for publishing hunting pictures in 2014. They posted photos of themselves with dead animals after a hunting trip in South Africa.
7. Hunters apologized for killing a rare albino bull reverred by a Native American tribe. They shot the animal in Cape Breton Highlands in Nova Scotia, and claim they did not realize their trophy would spark outrage among the Mi'kmaq. They believed the albino bull to be "spirit" animals.
8. This is the hunting queen that received death threats after posting a photo posing next to a dead giraffe. Ricky Gervais reposted it and made his disgust clear, and the world followed.
9. The Rosie O'Donnell shark hunt caused a Facebook backlash. 73 million sharks are killed each year, and because they are a top predator in the ocean, they are vital to its ecosystem.
10. People didn't seem to realize that this was a satirical post from Steven Spielberg, who posed next to a dead dinosaur. Some people did indeed think that this was a real triceratops.
