Partial confessions are when we attempt to ease our feelings of guilt while still hoping to get away with a little unethical behavior. And according to a new study, it most likely occurs when it involves the following topics:



For the study, participants were asked to recall times when they did something unethical and whether they confessed, partially confessed, or did not confess at all.

The researchers also analyzed how this partial confession impacted their emotions, and discovered that it ended up making participants feel worse than either a full confession, or no confession at all.
