Is your sex life dwindling? Here's a new suggestion: Ditch the sexy lingerie and put on your running shoes. According to a new survey conducted by Wakefield Research, couples who run together have more sex.
66 percent of 1000 runners said couples who run together have more sex. It is, however, unclear if the runners polled for the Brooks Run Happy Nation Report were talking about their own sex lives or guessing the bedroom activity of runners in general.
But it does make sense that running together can boost both partners' libidos, says Terri Orbuch, Ph.D., relationship expert and author of Finding Love Again: 6 Simple Steps to a New and Happy Relationship. Running does, after all, release adrenaline and endorphins; the same brain chemicals triggered by love and arousal.
So when your partner is running beside you as these chemical feelings flow, you begin to associate the good vibes with your partner, which makes you want him or her even more—and vice-versa.
That being said, running isn't the only thing you can do with your partner to boost your sexual arousal - other exercises such as cycling, hiking, aerobics, kickboxing, intense weight lifting and even salsa dancing could stroke your libidos!
If you're already having amazing sex without any help, does it mean exercising could make it EVEN better? Alright, ladies! It's time to find out.
