According to a report, Apple's new iPad and iPhone chips will be made in a GlobalFoundries plant in New York.
A group from Samsung, which currently makes logic microprocessors for the iPad and iPhone at an Austin, Texas, fabrication plant, will help the GlobalFoundries team learn to create the chips, according to
The Times-Union.
They are in the process of building a 565,000 square-foot Technology Development Center next to its current factory.
GlobalFoundries, which is based in Milipitas, Calif., was spun off from AMD in 2009. The company's customers include AMD, Broadcom, Qualcomm and STMicroelectronics.
