Facebook is branching out into the real estate market. They are
investing in a 394 unit apartment complex that's a 45 minute walk to its new Menlo Park campus.
The $120 million Anton Menlo will be designed by architects at KTGY Group in a partnership with St. Anton Developers. It will have studios, and one, two and three bedroom apartments on a 10-acre site.
According to KTGY's Keith Labus, the "resort inspired" complex will have everything a young professional could want to complement their busy lifestyle. There's a pool, a rooftop deck, communal kitchen, bodega, bar, bike repair shop, yoga room, dog day care and a pet spa.
While they are not known officially as The Facebook Apartments, they are part of a new wave of factory towns made by corporations looking to build attractive housing for employees while also improving the community surrounding their headquarters.
Companies like IKEA and Tesco are already building neighborhoods in the UK and Google also invested in an apartment complex near its Mountain View headquarters.
