Did you experience a service interruption on Gmail last night? If you did it's because of a rare, double network failure, according to the Gmail team. The failure caused significant delays in the delivery of some email.
According to Google, the message delivery problems were caused by a rare "dual network failure" in which redundant systems stopped working at the same time yesterday morning.
That caused the brief delay in the delivery of about 29 percent of messages across the system. The problem was cleared by about 7 PM eastern time yesterday.
