How long more will Earth be able to support life? According to scientists: 1.75 billion years more before it becomes uninhabitable, so long as we don't destroy the Earth first.
The scientists looked at what defines a habitable zone in a solar system. Liquid water is considered the keystone of life. But planets can get pushed out of a certain zone around its star changing liquid water into ice if it gets too far, and vaporizing it if it gets too close to the star.
Scientists estimated that the current zone is moving outwards at 1 meter per year, and they developed a model to figure out how much time the Earth has left in the zone. We've been in the zone for 6.3 billion to 7.8 billion years already.
