The new iPhone 5S has attracted the longest line ever with a record of 1,417 people outside Apple's New York City store. Now it's all sold out. Until October.

Less than 24 hours after the 5S went on sale, Apple's entire September stock was wiped out, Fortune reported.

Apple updated its shipment times for online purchases to reflect that the gold model won't be ready until October. The earlier available ship date in any color is next month.

Apple's online store pushed back ship dates for the UK, France and Germany too.

However, Apple's new colorful budget phone, the iPhone 5C, is available to ship in 24 hours after initial ship times were pushed back three to seven days.
