Is it possible to create the UP! effect and travel around the world via balloons? Jonathan Trappe is going to try it. The 39 year old IT manager is trusting them with his life as he attempts to become the first person to cross the Atlantic using only a life raft and 370 helium filled balloons.

He took off from Maine on Thursday and will fly as high as 25,000 feet above ground. It's important to note that five people have already died trying to cross the Atlantic in hot air balloons.

Trappe's resume is quite impressive though. He's crossed the English Channel, and the Alps with a cluster of balloons. He might just be able to achieve that. Lets hope he does this too. [BuzzFeed]
