Samsung has unveiled its third generation big screen Note - the Galaxy Note 3 at events in New York City and Berlin. Samsung says that it attempted to make the phone "slimmer, lighter, faster, larger and better". The Note 3 includes a new security system called Knox, and lets sensitive apps and data run in a protected environment called the "container".
Measuring in at 5.7 inches, the Note's AMOLED display is bigger than previous versions. It's width isn't any larger than the Note II, and it weighs 5.9 ounces. It's got a soft, leather like exterior with a "premium look and feel" to it, and it comes in jet black, classic white and blush pink.
The S Pen Stylus gets an upgrade too, and when a user hovers the S Pen over the screen, a circle will appear. Tapping on it and clicking the pen's button will reveal a semi circular menu Samsung calls Air Command. It has several functions including Scrapbook, and lets users save any content onscreen by marking it with a circle.
The S Note, gets a makeover too, and gets everything organized into "notebooks". They are integrating the app with Evernote, and buyers will get 12 months of Evernote's premium service when they buy the Note 3.
A new feature called Multi Vision lets multiple users of the Note 3 combine their displays to create one large image. Would this work for other Galaxy devices too?
As for launch, Samsung will bring the Note 3 on September 25 to 149 countries, along with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition tablet.
